Melbourne City of Events

The fun thing about Melbourne is the events never seem to end, since the beginning of this year we have had a plethora of things to cheer about, keep you busy and empty your wallet. In fact I am sure that this brief list is only scratching the surface of the many many activities which keep the melburnians busy right through to the wee small hours.

In early January we had the Australian Open Tennis, big international tennis stars, thousands of tourists and plenty of swedes! Then there was the cricket (it never seemed to end)..

February had the football pre-season, Aussie Rools gets on the road.

March had the Formula 1 Grand Prix, The International Food Festival, The World Swimming Championships, The Airshow, The Motorshow and the Sailboat Show.

April has the international Jazz festival - wow so much on....

powering_dale_large.jpg

and only $20,000 usd sadly it equals nearly $60k when it gets to Australia

Rubberband Gatling Gun - do you believe this?

gatgun_lg.jpg

Oh so very very cool, a rubberband gun that has been hand crafted from poplar pine to fire 540 rounds a minute, that is if it was able to actually hold that many bands of course. In actual fact it will only fire 144 rounds which if you pushed it could be released in around 12 seconds...

The turret spins effortlessly through 360 degrees, and will tilt from 45 degrees up to 22 degrees down, so tracking a fast moving target is a breeze.

Winding the handle spins the barrels and fires off the bands yours for £399.00

Pool Wizard

laserguidedpoolcue_small.jpgit was only a matter of time until someone came out with the new improved pool cue.

This cue features a laser pointer that guides you to produce a perfect shot every time (well that is if you know where you should be hitting the white ball and can master the power ratio, balance etc..).

I can just see it revolutionising the way we rock up to the local pub, first unpack your cue, check the batteries and start racking up the balls looking for new competition some one old school, not of the digital revolution.

God what has happened to the old days when the only way to improve your game was to use beer goggles?

The Echo Pack

echo.jpg

The echo is a super idea, part sling bag, part camera bag. I am a huge fan of Crumpler brand bags so as soon as I purchased my Nikon D70 I raced over to the St Kilda Crumpler store and purchased the Crumpler Camera bag - but I was disappointed. It is hard to say exactly what was wrong with that bag and just why this one appears to have got it right, but if you focus for a moment on the fact that firstly it does not look like a camera bag, it holds extra stuff in the top compartment, its a comfy sling style and its not too rigid, you probably have the main features. Add to that it has a music (ipod) slod with slot for the headphones - brilliant!

this is very cool, very much the kind of thing you want on your office desk, like the old bouncing balls on executive desks, this note paper is malleable, in that it arrives like a stack of ordinary postit notes but you can shape it into the tower most representative of your mood. Cool!

Lets Go Surfing

DSC_0069.jpg

Lets Go Surfing

Bondi Beach is a bizarre mix of the poseurs, the tourists, the hard core locals and a good mix of freaks. With a consistent surf break it is a place where so many people learn how to catch a wave, from the rough techniques to the finer points of surfing ettiquette - it all happens "out the back".

So its a great thing to consider that Bondi has its own surf school - "Lets Go Surfing" which caters to all levels
